Junk Art Competition 2025

World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th each year, is a global platform for raising awareness and acting on urgent environmental issues. This year’s theme for WED is Ending Global Plastic Pollution. In celebration of this day, Better Chitwan, in collaboration with Greenland Public School, is organizing a Junk Art Competition to engage school students in creative thinking and environmental responsibility.

Eligibility

Students must be in Grade 6–10. Each school is allowed only one team. Each team must consist of 3 students only. Minimum 1 Student must be girl.

Material guideline

Only waste materials can be used. Plastic use is recommended. No new materials or items are allowed. Participants must bring their own waste materials.

Tools Allowed

Teams can bring glue, tape, scissors, thread, paint, etc. No heavy machinery, electrical tools, or pre-made models allowed.

The aim of this competition is to:

  • Promote creative reuse/upcycling of waste materials
  • Encourage students to reflect on waste management and sustainability
  • Develop a sense of environmental stewardship and responsibility among students

Most of these products are made out of Poly Bags. They are the big threat to the environment. Poly bags less than 40 micron thickness is banned by Nepal Government.
